Abstract

In January 2023, a combined six cities in Central Java experienced inflation of 0.32 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.7. Of the six CPI cities in Central Java, all cities experienced inflation.

The main causes of inflation in January 2023 are the increase in the price of rice, red chili, filtered clove cigarettes, shallots, and cayenne peppers. The main restraints of inflation are the decline in the prices of gasoline, purebred chicken eggs, air freight, tomatoes, and oranges.

The inflation rate for the calendar year of January 2023 was 0.32 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2023 to January 2022) was 5.51 percent.
